Enlightenment: Shedding Light and Celebrating Space The premise of this design competition is that opportunities for poetry abound in America's urban centers. To test this premise, we invite competitors to transform an ordinary parking lot in downtown Cincinnati into an extraordinary urban moment. By casting light into the void, perhaps in combination with sculptural, landscape or architectural forms, the competition seeks to assert a meaning for this banal space as an instance of a larger order, a frame in which unexpected events may occur, a positive presence rather than an absence. competition sponsored by the AIA in Cincinnati |
